Marcel Herregods is a specialist in the areas of post-harvest technology, physiology, and quality control, storage and marketing of horticultural products. He has a background in marketing and has been involved in scientific research for most of his professional career. His extensive knowledge and experience has taken him to large parts of Eastern Europe (Hungary, Romania, Russia, Poland, Uzbekistan and Armenia) and Asia (Japan, China, and South Korea), where he worked on assignments for the European Union, NATO, and the UN Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO), as well as private organizations.
He is former chairman of the commission on Post-harvest Handling of Horticultural Products and the working group Fruit Storage and Handling of the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS), a member of the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR-IIF) and has published about 1,000 articles related to post-harvest handling of fruit and vegetables.
